On September 2024, Epivara was awarded a U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant for $275,000 to conduct research and development (R&D) work on a novel, non-surgical method for sterilizing female cats.
This funding is helping us advance an innovative approach that uses a single injection of a small implant instead of traditional spay surgery—eliminating the high costs, surgical risks, and recovery time that often prevent cat owners from sterilizing their pets. Our goal is to provide a safe, effective, and commercially viable alternative to help reduce overpopulation and abandonment. This research is also deepening our understanding of reproductive endocrinology in domestic cats, paving the way for future veterinary advancements.
